America’s Hometown Happenings: April 14 – 16

April 13, 2017

Easter weekend Fayetteville NCGood Friday is just the beginning of a festive weekend full of Easter happenings in the greater Fayetteville area. Our locals and visitors will be hopping on carriage rides, hunting eggs, eating a pancake breakfast, taking lots of pictures, and watching an Easter production. As you make your weekend plans with family, consider joining us in Cumberland County to celebrate Easter with these six unique events.

Easter Bunny Carriage Rides, Downtown Alliance – April 14

Celebrate Good Friday with a horse-and-carriage ride through the beautiful streets of downtown Fayetteville. At just $5 per ticket, this 15-minute ride is an inexpensive, unique way to create some sweet memories with the family.
Tip: Rumor has it that Mr. Big Ears will be driving the decked-out carriage, so don’t forget the camera!

Hop in the Park, Festival Park – April 14

Take the kids out to the biggest Easter egg hunt in the city Friday evening. Every year, hundreds of families descend on Festival Park to fill their baskets with 200,000 eggs. Epicenter Church makes the big event even more fun with a skydiving bunny, live music, free food, movie, inflatables, carnival rides, and more.
Tip: Pre-register all participants on the event website.

Easter weekend Fayetteville NCBreakfast with the Easter Bunny & Easter Egg Scramble, Airborne and Special Operations Museum – April 15

Start your Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast at this treasured museum. The Easter Bunny will be the guest of honor, of course, and will be posing for pictures ($5-10 each). After breakfast and photos, head to the Reflection Garden for the Easter Egg Scramble.
Tip: The breakfast requires a paid reservation, but the egg scramble is free and open to the public.

Downtown Easter Egg Hunt, Downtown Fayetteville – April 15

After spending your morning at the ASOM, take the afternoon to explore the rest of downtown. About 2,000 candy-filled eggs will be scattered outdoors, but you will have to venture off the beaten path to find them. Select businesses will be handing out eggs to customers, as well.
Tip: Look for the Flashbox Photo Booth at Gallery 116th to capture the moment at no charge (just donation).

Easter Egg-Stravaganza, Putt-Putt Fun Center – April 15

Take the kids to this family entertainment center, located in the Town of Hope Mills, for a free meet-and-greet with the Easter Bunny Saturday afternoon. The Egg-Stravaganza is also a fun photo-op (bring your own camera), plus children will be given prize-filled Easter eggs.
Easter weekend Fayetteville NCTip: Come early or stay late to experience all that the Fun Center has to offer.

An Easter Production: “Jesus: My Brother, My Lord”, Northwood Temple Church – April 16

End a perfect weekend with this church’s annual Easter production. Exploring the relationships Jesus had with his siblings, this celebration of Easter focuses on “the intricacies of family, familiarity, and faith.” The last performance of the free show will take place Sunday evening.
Tip: Arrive early to get good seats, as Northwood’s theatrical productions are well attended by the public.

Many exciting events are taking place throughout Cumberland County and may be discovered on the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (FACVB) Calendar of Events. Also, on our featured blog this week, we shared three restaurants that offer great outdoor dining experiences for special occasions, such as Easter; read more on “Al Fresco Dining in Cumberland County.”
