This weekend in the greater Fayetteville area is shaping up to be all about the guys. Our calendar has something for sports fans, beer lovers, outdoor adventurers, and even beard enthusiasts. Grab the crew and get ready for these entertaining, action-packed events around Cumberland County.
Watch the battle on ice go down as the Fayetteville FireAntz face off against the Pensacola Ice Flyers in two hockey games at the Crown Coliseum. Whether you hit the Scout Night Game on Friday or the Super Fan Game on Saturday, the rink-side show, good food, plus cold drinks equal a great night.
Load up the bike and get ready to do some Mountain Bike Trail Work at J. Bayard Clark Park Saturday morning. This monthly event offers outdoor adventurers the chance to become trail-blazers, helping to cut in, maintain, and test the newly developed Cape Fear Mountain Bike Trail.
Hit the Rock Shop Music Hall Saturday evening for the hilarious and raucous Bearded Beauties Pageant. This annual show, organized by the nonprofit organization Cape Beard, features “bearded beauties” competing in such categories as evening gown, bathing suit, and talent.
Join one of the Sunday afternoon Brewery Tours at Dirtbag Ales, in Hope Mills, for a behind-the-scenes look at the beer-making process. This free weekly tour, led by the head brewer, also offers folks the chance to sample what is flowing in the taproom and to fill up a growler for the road (regular cost).
Pack up the cooler and head out to Shady Acres Rodeo, in Hope Mills, to watch Bull Riding on Sunday night, when bull-riders and mutton-busters practice their sport. This self-sustaining farm opens their doors to spectators and dare-devils every week for some down-on-the-farm fun.
The rest of this weekend’s many “hometown happenings” may be found on the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Calendar of Events. On this week’s featured blog, we also highlighted two upcoming races in Cumberland County that attract everyone from marathon lovers to 5K walkers. Read more about both on “Let the Races Begin!”.
