Care

Fayetteville is home to the seventh-largest hospital system in the state. Cape Fear Valley Health System is comprised of four main healthcare facilities:

  • Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, a 447-bed hospital that includes The Heart Center and The Cancer Center
  • Behavioral Health Care (BHC), a 139-bed psychiatric hospital with inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care as well as substance abuse treatment
  • Southeastern Regional Rehabilitation Center (SRRC), a 78-bed rehabilitation hospital
  • Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital, a 77-bed acute-care hospital at 150 Robeson St.

The health system also operates 14 Physician Offices throughout the county. HealthPlex, a 65,000-square-foot medically oriented wellness center, is located at 1930 Skibo Road.

Southern Regional Area Health Education Center (SR-AHEC)

The Southern Region Area Health Education Center operates under a contract with Duke University to provide health education services to a nine-county region in south-central North Carolina. Through the Duke University contract, SR-AHEC is affiliated with Duke University Medical Center and associated with the North Carolina AHEC Program, based at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

SR-AHEC meets its mission of addressing the regions' health workforce needs by:

  • promoting state of the art healthcare education,
  • continually seeking innovation in the education experience,
  • providing timely information resources,
  • improving access to care through high quality clinical services and increasing the number and diversity of practicing healthcare professionals.
