| MatchForce.org Makes Its First Match |

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C – Move over Monster-dot-com, Fayetteville’s got MatchForce-dot-org! Although it won’t be fully operational until later this summer, www.matchforce.org has already made a perfect match. The Cumberland County Business Council developed the website to help jobseekers find jobs and help local companies find employees and new business through military/government opportunities. It did the job for Briggs & Sons Tire.
Keith Tilghman, General Business Manager, of Briggs & Sons Tire explains. “We heard about the web site and decided to register. The process was extremely user-friendly and only took about five minutes,” says Tilghman. “We were looking for a new counter sales associate in our Owen Drive store, so I keyed in ‘Retail’ and several candidates came up,” he adds. Pam Bedekovich had the exact qualifications Briggs & Sons Tire was looking for. “There was so much background on her experience, it was almost as if I knew her,” Tilghman claims. So he called her for an interview. “That was Tuesday,” says Pam Bedekovich, “and the following Monday I was at my new job.”
Bedekovich had been looking for a new job for some time. When she heard about www.matchforce.org, she thought it was an unusual concept but decided it was worth a try. A day and a half after signing up, she got the call from Keith Tilghman. “Now, I’ve been telling others about the web site,” says Bedekovich, who came to Fayetteville as a military spouse. She loves her new job, and Briggs & Sons Tire is extremely pleased with their new associate.
Matchforce.org is part of the Cumberland County Business Council’s Operation Match Force initiative, designed to enhance military relations and promote economic development in the area by leveraging Fayetteville’s military presence. Cumberland County businesses and jobseekers – as well as those with government contract and purchase needs – can register on the web portal, by visiting www.matchforce.org. |
