School’s Out! Now What?

When that school bell rings for the last time, summer has officially begun, and parents start planning vacations and searching for kid-friendly entertainment. The greater Fayetteville area makes that search easy with a wide variety of events geared toward youth. To help our visitors plan some amazing experiences for their kids this summer, we have put together a bucket-list—highlighting some of our favorite upcoming outdoor adventures, teen conferences and concerts, and sporting events.

  • Youth Fishing Day: Gather up your poles and bait and take the kids to John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center for this free, educational event on June 10th (ages 16 and below).
  • Archery Challenge Course: Enjoy a morning of archery games, target practice, challenges, and more at Lake Rim Park on June 28th (ages 8 and up).
  • Summer Constellations & Meteor Shower: Register for “an evening under the stars” at J. Bayard Clark Park; learn about constellations and observe one of the best meteor showers of the year on August 12th (all ages).

Teen Conferences & Concerts

  • kids events FayettevilleYouth Explosion: Take your teens to this free conference on June 10th for a power-packed day of inspirational talks, workshops, a concert by gospel artist Casey J, and much more—all part of the multi-day Plan-Purpose-Process-Promise Conference—taking place at Teach All Nations Ministries, in Spring Lake.
  • Da Make Me Dance Tour: Grab tickets to this summer tour, supporting the “Get Off the Couch Challenge” and tobacco-free living, and enjoy performances by popular performers Taylor Girlz, Silento, Zay Hilfigerrr, and others at the Crown Theatre on June 30th.
  • GLOW Fun Run & After-Party: Sign up for a 5K fun-run, followed by a concert featuring Jor’Dan Armstrong and Rapture Ruckus in Festival Park on July 21st—one of several events planned for the two-day Positive Direction for Youth (PDY) Conference.

Sporting Events

  • kids events FayettevilleFayetteville SwampDogs Summertime Spook Fest Game: Celebrate Halloween mid-summer at J.P. Riddle Stadium on July 7th, when kids will dress up in their best costume to cheer on the ‘Dogs as they take on the Wilmington Sharks (family 4-pack special available).
  • WWE Live: SummerSlam Heatwave Tour: Surprise the family with tickets to this action-packed show and watch all the Raw superstars throw down at the Crown Coliseum on July 21st (family 4-pack special available).
  • Carolina Clash Back-to-School Bash: Wrap up the summer with a fun Saturday night out at Fayetteville Motor Speedway’s track on August 12th and take in all the exciting street-car races (free tickets for kids 10 and under).
